This beautiful new version of our Victoria bag, made in fantastic quality nubuck, has just landed at Magasin du Nord in Copenhagen. The best thing about it is, it looks and feels like suede but lasts like leather. If you like the idea of combining the velvety feel of suede with the practicality of leather – you will love this bag as much as we do!
We often get questions about what nubuck actually is, and what’s the difference between nubuck and suede. So here’s a little Nubuck vs Suede 101 :-) They are often confused as they look and feel similar, but in fact nubuck is one of the most expensive types of leather, while suede is one of the cheapest. Both nubuck and suede are leather that’s been sanded (top layer brushed off), but the difference is nubuck is brushed on the outer surface of the leather, while suede is brushed on the inside. Since the outside of any leather is much tougher, nubuck lasts much longer. Suede is much more fragile and can tear easily. Nubuck in terms of strength is almost the same as leather it is made of. Suede is more prone to colour transfer, nubuck is not. For all these reasons nubuck is a much better choice for bags and shoes – but it also comes with a higher price tag. As all nice things in life :-)
